Flash

Macromedia/Adobe's Flash quickly became a standard for low bandwidth animations and intros but is falling less into use now due to poor search performance and lack of support by some tablets and mobile devices. Flash can be used to perform various tasks, from whole websites to smaller banner ads. Flash's edge comes from the visual impact it can have on a webpage while using the minimum of download time.

Nowadays, with search engine rankings such a premium commodity, it is used mostly for small area's of the screen but can be used to great effect.

Dellveintonature Flash Game .

One area of Flash Development we have really enjoyed was the development of a fun quirk little game for a Scarborough Based regeneration project Dellve into nature. The aim of this project was to transform and promote a piece of rough ground called The Dell in Eastfield, and for the project to have any lasting success they needed a website that would educate and stimulate kids of the area and hopefully make at least some of them take an interest in the area.

We got to develop a small game to promote things to do around the Dell, which while low budget worked out really well. You can see the game in action here, plus all the other great stuff at http://www.dellveintonature.co.uk

Picadore Canvas Preview .

Another very interesting, and challenging project we got to do in flash was for a canvas preview system for Scarborough based printing company PicAdore. We had to create a system that would upload and analyse a photograph from a user, we then needed to create an environment where not only could the user select various size and shape options, they could also preview the finished result live on either a living room or dining room wall!
